The house is extremely generous with space, being equipped to cater for 6 adults. You only need to bring your own beach towels and beach chairs. The kitchen and inter-leading scullery are fully equipped and include an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. Coffee, tea and sugar are provided to help you settle in. There is also a guest toilet and a double lock-up garage. From the large veranda, with patio furniture, the beautiful West Coast sunsets can be appreciated. Upstairs The second bedroom has a queen size bed and ample cupboard space. The third bedroom is furnished with twin beds, and has built-in cupboards. A second bathroom with a shower services the two upstairs rooms. The large loft area provides a second living area and is furnished with two large couches, a television, DSTV decoder and DVD player. Double doors open onto the patio (with braai facilities), which overlooks Jacobsbaai towards the sea. A separate, outside staircase leads up to this patio and loft. The popular Weskusplek, a restaurant owned by the famous Afrikaans singer, Steve Hofmeyr, is situated only 800 metres from the house. Here delicious and affordable traditional meals, and the hospitality so characteristic of the West Coast, can be enjoyed. Jacobsbaai has always been known for its abundance of crayfish and it is a popular fishing spot. The bay is also ideal for sea kayaking. The protected bays provide an ideal paddling and exploring area for youngsters and young at heart, while the sandy Atlantic Ocean beach allows uncrowded sunbathing. The brave, tipsy or hot can dip in the refreshing ocean. The towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Darling, the hometown of the famous Evita Bezuidenhout are nearby and Veldrift on the Berg River is ideal for bird watchers. The Seahouse

The Sea House is a luxurious thatched roof holiday home situated in the picturesque hamlet of Jacobsbaai on the Cape West Coast. The house can accommodate a large group of up to eight people. The ground floor accommodates four people. It consists of a living area, a sheltered braai area, two double bedrooms with two bathrooms (one en suite) and a porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The double garage has an entrance directly into the house. The ground floor is wheel-chair friendly with ramps at all the entrances and wide corridors and doors. The living area has: Comfortable leather and cane furniture, a dining-room table (with seating for eight people), a fireplace, a day bed (which can be used as an extra bed), a flat screen television set and decoder with all DSTV channels, and a DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with: An electric stove, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a fridge-freezer, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. Bedroom 1 has a queen-size bed, comfortable chair, double doors that open onto a porch overlooking the sea, bathroom (en suite) with toilet, bath, shower and heated towel rails. Bedroom 2 has two twin beds (or a king-size bed) and double doors opening onto the braai area. Bathroom 2 has a toilet and shower - although not en suite it is next to Bedroom 2 and is wheel chair friendly. The loft consists of two spacious suites each with a separate entrance, a complete bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. The two suites are interconnected and also have access to the ground floor. The loft suites accommodate two people each. The first suite opens onto a large deck overlooking the ocean. The second suite overlooks the village and the hills to the East. The double garage leads directly onto the ground floor of the house. The double car-port provides under-cover parking for additional guests. Bed linen and towels are supplied. (Please bring own beach towels). Only the whole house can be rented out as one unit. Hocus Pocus @ Paternoster

Farr Out

The few minutes drive from wilderness, you do feel pleasingly remote. Crunching up the glinting shell pathway you can see across an indigenous garden and right out to sea. Earlier risers may catch some of the wildlife that comes by when it thinks no-one's looking. Join Deon on a beach buggy excursion with a little wind in your hair going out overlooking the dunes. How about a braai in a half-Wigwam (tepee) like the Red Indians did? Rainy days are also covered, with a host of board games, including a much-loved thirty-year-old edition of German Monopoly. Rooms are modern, with televisions, stereos and some of the most exciting loo seats. Make sure you get a chance to spend a few minutes in the garden basket-chair before you leave. LekkeBly Loft

Set on South Africa's wild West Coast, in the authentic fishing village of Paternoster, LekkeBly is a new establishment offering luxury accommodation at affordable rates. It is approximately 300m from the main beach Mosselbank. It offers you luxury, daily service, free WiFi and located walking distance to Paternoster's finest restaurants. It consist of a bachelor pad in the loft of the house. This en-suite unit has a full bathroom (bath and shower). It is beautifully decorated. Folding-sliding doors opens on a balcony with views on the natural vegetation and a glimpse of the sea. It has WiFi, linen, towels and will be serviced daily. It accommodates 2 persons sharing.

Natural Blue

"Natural Blue"Paternoster fisherman's village architecture and was built in 2004 as a family home. It is a 3 bedroom house with a double sleeper couch in the loft. It is situated up a panhandle less than 200m from the beach. Pets and children are most welcome and the spacious bedrooms, living and entertainment areas are ideal for 'holiday' traffic. The unit provides a fully equipped kitchen, fresh linen, bath and beach towels. The main bedroom, with queen-size bed and spacious cupboards has an open plan en-suite which boasts both a spa bath and family sized shower, as well as having a wash hand basin and loo. The main bedroom also opens onto the patio/braai area. The second bedroom offers a queen size bed and spacious cupboards. The 3rd bedroom consists of queen-size bed and wardrobe with double doors opening onto the patio area which finishes off the U-shape of the front entertainment area of the house. The loft has three couches and coffee table with 74cm TV and limited bouquet DStv. One of the couches converts into a sleeper couch. Both the second and third bedrooms together with loft share a full second bathroom. The huge kitchen, with butchers block is fully equipped with microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, stove, oven, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery and is ideal to bring out your creative culinary skills. Coffee, tea, milk, and sugar are supplied to help you settle in. Friends gather around the kitchen counter on the 8 bar chairs and share West Coast experiences. The 10 seater dining room table is ideally situated between the kitchen and inside braai area to allow free-flow conversation. The inside and outside braai areas allow for all season cooking. A potjie, braai grid and tongs are provided. Come and enjoy a relaxing break away from it all. Take leisurely strolls along the long white sandy beaches, watch the sunset from The Voorstrandt Restaurant situated on the beach, support the local fishing community by ordering 'sea' fresh fish & chips or sit at the Paternoster Hotel with a sundowner and watch the locals selling their daily catch. Tietiesbaai Nature Reserve and Cape Columbine Lighthouse are a mere 5km from Paternoster and make for a scenic drive and again, perfect beaches and little paddling pools make it ideal for children.

De Oude Muragie

Experience tranquillity at the West Coast Hear, see and smell the sea from our holiday home (De Oude Muragie) which was first built in 1875 and was restored in 2007. The local residents called it "The little Jewel of Paternoster". The house is one of a handful of original fisherman's cottages saved by the Heritage Council. The dune contains significant archaeological heritage remains of human occupation dating back 3000 to 2000 years. An excavation site, made by the Dept of Archaeology is on the property, showing a shell midden which was formed by the Kohekohes, who used to camp and eat shellfish and white mussels on the dune. De Oude Muragie offers the following: A home away from home, with atmosphere and luxury!!! Wheelchair friendly!! Bedrooms The main bedroom, with double sized bed and spacious cupboards has a closed en-suite with a (bath, hand shower, basin and loo.) 2nd Room has 2 x ¾ beds for comfortable sleeping. Fresh clean embroidered linen is provided. Bathrooms It has 2 full bathrooms, one with a large shower and the other en-suite with a bath. (Skylights in bathrooms to create open air atmosphere) Bath and face towels provided. (No beach towels) Lounge/kitchen Pleasant atmosphere is created with a combination of antique and modern furniture. A huge traditional fireplace which is not only for warmth, but serves as an indoor cooking facility, should you want to braai, on cooler winter evenings. Books and magazines fill the bookracks. Sit on the dune behind the house and overlook the bay area, watching the small colourful fishing vessels go to sea every morning, returning in the afternoon with the catch of the day - snoek and crayfish. The dune and surrounding area is carpeted with bright fynbos flowers during Spring. Other We made provision for people in wheel chairs, with special ramps to the house and stoep, also wider door entrances etc. The house is a non-smoking establishment and smoking is preferably done outside on the stoep to respect other guests. A Carport for 1 vehicle and sufficient parking area for 2 more vehicles. Things To Do Paternoster is +-140km from Cape Town and is the ideal base from where to visit nearby towns like Darling, which also hosts a few excellent Wine Estates. Columbine Nature Reserve (Tietiesbaai). Cape Columbine Nature Reserve boasts wonderful coves and hiking trails. Wind-Surf and kayaking in the safe bay. Fine Restaurants.

Aloe Halt

Aloe Halt offers up to 6 guests the opportunity to stay in a spacious, yet intimate cottage about 160m from the beach. Walkways ensure easy access to the beach. Relax on the patio and enjoy the birdlife attracted by the various indigenous aloes in the garden. The red and orange flowers invite the sugarbirds to visit them for their sweat nectar. During August/September the landscape burst into colour when it is flower season on the West Coast. Explore the beauty of the nearby Tieties Bay where you will also find the Cape Columbine Lighthouse. If you don't fancy the idea of preparing your own food, there are numerous well known restaurants in Paternoster that cater for every need. THE VILLA Paternoster - a unique collection of 3 & 4 Star/Award Winning Luxury Self Catering Accommodation furnished & fully equipped for ultimate comfort & enjoyment. The Villa The Villa is a 2 bedroom unit - the main bedroom en-suite (bath and shower) with a king size bed (twins beds optional) and the other also ensuite (shower only) with twin beds. The bedrooms are downstairs and open onto an outside patio. Upstairs is the open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge with sleeper couch suitable for children under 16. The lounge area has double doors that open onto the braai patio, which has sea views. The Cottage The Cottage is a 1 bedroom unit with a king-size bed (twin beds optional), open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room. The lounge area is large enough and has an extra bed. It has a separate full bathroom. The dining area has double doors that open onto a secluded outside patio with braai. The Cottage does not have sea views but what it lacks in views it makes up for in charm, comfort and character. Situated only 100 meters from the beach, both of these units have inside braai/fireplaces. TV channels 1, 2, 3, e-TV, M-Net, Movie Magic 1, and Super Sport 1 & 2 are provided. These units are fully equipped, fridge/freezer, microwave, full stove, all crockery and utensils, linen & towels and braai equipment. Coffee, tea, milk and sugar are provided for your first morning refreshment. Baywatch Villa & Cottage happily accept families with children. We are pet friendly but must advise that there are no fences; therefore it is the owner's responsibility to ensure their pets are well behaved and not aggressive. Beach towel are not provided. Starfish

Starfish is a fully equipped luxury self-catering beach cottage in the unique fisherman's village of Paternoster. It has 3 bedrooms- 2 rooms have double beds and 1 room has 2 single beds. The cottage sleeps 6 people. For children there is a double sleeper couch in the lounge. It has 2 full bathrooms- one has a bath tub only and one has a shower only (en suite to the mainbedroom) All linen and towels are supplied. The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary utensils, microwave, refrigerator/ freezer and electric hob. In our open plan lounge/ dining room/ kitchen we have an indoor fireplace/ braai and a TV with full DSTV and DVD. There is an outside patio and additional braai. There is a sundeck on which you can enjoy the tranquillity of Paternoster with 360 degrees views of Paternoster. There is a direct access to the beach (80 metres). Beach towels are not provided. Smoking inside the cottage is strictly prohibited. Sea views are limited (from the sundeck only). Undercover parking is available. No pets are allowed.

Beachwalker's Cottage

150kms north of Cape Town. Built December 2004 to the traditional West Coast style, tastefully appointed. Spacious and welcoming. 80 metres from beach. Accommodates 1 to 4 people. 2 bedrooms: 1 bedroom with kingsize bed (en-suite bathroom - bath with shower) and 1 bedroom with 2 single beds that can be converted to a kingsize bed (en-suite bathroom - shower). Fully equipped kitchen/dining. Lounge with full DSTV, card not required. Sea views. Outside patio with braai, beautiful sea and bay views. All linen & towels provided except for beach towels. No smoking in bedrooms. No pets. No Children under 7 years of age. Things to do: Play, kite, surf or take walks on the 8 kms of beautiful bay curved beach. Sample the seafood cuisine of the local restaurants and hotel. In season buy the famous Paternoster 'red gold' crayfish from the local fishermen. Experience the magical, across the bay sunsets of Paternoster. Book a deep-sea ski boat or traditional boat fishing trip. Dive training and dive trips can be arranged, as can crayfishing trips in season. Book sea kayaking trips accompanied by experienced kayaking guides. The trips are an excellent way to experience the beautiful coastline and wildlife such as seals, whales, dolphins and a variety of sea birds, including the endangered oystercatcher. Columbine Nature Reserve, a mere 5 kms away, boasts an amazing display of wild flowers from July to October. Tieties Bay is also within the Nature Reserve and has some of the finest West Coast beaches among its rugged coastline. Tour Cape Columbine, the last manned lighthouse built on the South African coast. West Coast Fossil Park is well worth a visit. One can see the fossils and read about extinct animals such as the African Bear, sabre-tooth cats, giant ostrich, a species of elephant and many more. Take an easy car trip to well-known vineyards and sample the many excellent wines on offer. View the Southern Right Whale from the beach, March to November, or take a 3-hour boat trip from Port Owen to the Berg River. About Paternoster Legend has it that ship wrecked Portuguese sailors who, on landing safely on the beach, offered up the prayer "Patre Nostre". Hence the name of our village "Paternoster" meaning "Our Father". Paternoster is situated about 150 km North of Cape Town on the R27 and 15 km from Vredenburg. The picturesque village is set in a beautiful bay with the architecture strongly influenced by the white cottage fishermen style. The local fishermen still enjoy their trade, launching their fleet of small craft from the beaches as the license regulations allow. A happy few hours can be spent greeting the boats as they land on the beach laden with fish of the season. For some, the best time is spent with the fishermen bartering for fish or crayfish

Soli Deo Gloria Unit 2

Soli Deo Gloria Unit 2 is a beautiful beach front property. It consists of an en-suite bachelor pad with a wheelchair friendly shower. Folding-sliding doors open directly onto a deck and a board walk with direct access to the beach. The unit is fully kitted with anything you can think of. The entire apartment enjoys the beach view, even the bathroom! The apartment has universal access, which makes it very convenient for those in wheelchairs. There's a fireplace which can be used as a braai as well. So no matter whether it is cold or hot, you will be comfortable. The unit is tastefully furnished and comfortable, with a good view and direct access to the beach. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

A guest review: We stayed in cottage no. 1 and enjoyed the fact that the downstairs room had a shower. There is a lovely stand-alone Victorian bath in the upstairs room. The interior design of this spacious cottage is most attractive and all equipment and utensils are top-of-the-range. Absolutely everything we could have wanted was there, right down to complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and salad dressing! We loved the indoor fireplace where we could braai on cold evenings, and also enjoyed the huge sofas with their many cushions where we could spread out and watch Wimbledon tennis on the big-screen TV. The beds were extremely comfortable and we appreciated the electric blankets for the winter. Not many self-catering places are serviced daily: we felt thoroughly spoiled having two ladies come in each day to make beds, wash dishes and do a general tidy up. They were pleasant, efficient and discreet.

Paternoster remains a friendly working fishing village. In season, buy your crayfish from the local fisherman fresh off the boat. At any time of year, you can dine in one of the excellent restaurants. Sea kayaking, fishing, bird watching, golf, windsurfing and horse riding are all available nearby. Relaxation comes easily, leaving is the hardest part! For a romantic getaway, less than one minute's walk from the beach, Ceoleen - Irish for Little Music - is perfect. Ceoleen is a self-contained apartment situated behind the main house, Ceol na Mara (Music of the Waves), and sleeps two to four in a separate double bedroom and a double sleeper couch in the living area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a hob, microwave and fridge-freezer. The bathroom has a shower. The living area contains, hi-fi and TV/DSTV (please bring your own Multichoice card to receive more than the basic channels). Heating is by electric panels. We provide hand towels, bath sheets, bedlinen and hair drier. You can see the bay from the balcony whilst you grill on the mobile braai. We request that you don't smoke inside the property. We regret that Ceoleen is unsuitable for pets.

We've made sure that both properties are fully equipped, including hair driers, Hi-Fi and TV/DStv (please bring your own Multichoice card). Heating is by electric panels or gas fire. Just imagine - whale watching or enjoying a romantic sundowner as you celebrate the spectacular sunset from the balcony, one of the largest in Paternoster - relaxing in the stunning, cosily furnished double volume living room with its open fireplace and original artwork by the renowned local artist, Karin Sell - sunbathing in the garden before taking the short private path to the beach - partying on the stoep eating crayfish and steaks cooked on the outdoor braai. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, deep freeze and electronic safe. There is an additional shower room. Guests in Ceol na Mara have access to secure garage parking for one car and use of a washing machine, garden recliners and hammock chairs. A selection of DVD's is also available on request. We provide a complementary bag of braai wood. Ceol na Mara has been awarded 4-stars by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Ceoleen sleeps two to four and is perfect for a short break. There is one double bedroom and a sleeper couch in the main living area. The kitchen has a hob, microwave and fridge-freezer. The balcony has views over the bay, and a mobile braai.
