Another small room is available with a bunker bed with a seperate toilet and wash-basin. Perfect for a family with 2 children under the age of 13. This unit is fitted with a small equipped kitchen and has a private stoep with a built-in outdoor braai overlooking the sea. Kreef is also perfect for the couple that wants privacy, seperate from the main guest house. Room Elf (sleeps 2) Elf has two single beds with an en-suite bathroom, with stunning unspoilt seaviews and is walking distance to the beach. It has a flatscreen TV with DSTV. This room is perfect for people wishing to share or someone single. Room Mossel (Sleeps 2) Mossel has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom, with stunning unspoilt seaviews and is walking distance to the beach. It has a flatscreen TV with DSTV and a microwave-oven available. Room Snoek (Sleeps 2) Snoek has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom, with stunning unspoilt seaviews and is walking distance to the beach. It has a flatscreen TV with DSTV. Room Bokkom (Sleeps 2 )  Bokkom has a double bed with a full en-suite bathroom, with stunning unspoilt seaviews and is walking distance to the beach. It has a flatscreen TV with DSTV. The Seahouse

The Sea House is a luxurious thatched roof holiday home situated in the picturesque hamlet of Jacobsbaai on the Cape West Coast. The house can accommodate a large group of up to eight people. The ground floor accommodates four people. It consists of a living area, a sheltered braai area, two double bedrooms with two bathrooms (one en suite) and a porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The double garage has an entrance directly into the house. The ground floor is wheel-chair friendly with ramps at all the entrances and wide corridors and doors. The living area has: Comfortable leather and cane furniture, a dining-room table (with seating for eight people), a fireplace, a day bed (which can be used as an extra bed), a flat screen television set and decoder with all DSTV channels, and a DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with: An electric stove, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a fridge-freezer, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. Bedroom 1 has a queen-size bed, comfortable chair, double doors that open onto a porch overlooking the sea, bathroom (en suite) with toilet, bath, shower and heated towel rails. Bedroom 2 has two twin beds (or a king-size bed) and double doors opening onto the braai area. Bathroom 2 has a toilet and shower - although not en suite it is next to Bedroom 2 and is wheel chair friendly. The loft consists of two spacious suites each with a separate entrance, a complete bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. The two suites are interconnected and also have access to the ground floor. The loft suites accommodate two people each. The first suite opens onto a large deck overlooking the ocean. The second suite overlooks the village and the hills to the East. The double garage leads directly onto the ground floor of the house. The double car-port provides under-cover parking for additional guests. Bed linen and towels are supplied. (Please bring own beach towels). Only the whole house can be rented out as one unit. Coffee, tea and sugar are provided to help you settle in. There is also a guest toilet and a double lock-up garage. From the large veranda, with patio furniture, the beautiful West Coast sunsets can be appreciated. Upstairs The second bedroom has a queen size bed and ample cupboard space. The third bedroom is furnished with twin beds, and has built-in cupboards. A second bathroom with a shower services the two upstairs rooms. The large loft area provides a second living area and is furnished with two large couches, a television, DSTV decoder and DVD player. Double doors open onto the patio (with braai facilities), which overlooks Jacobsbaai towards the sea. A separate, outside staircase leads up to this patio and loft. The popular Weskusplek, a restaurant owned by the famous Afrikaans singer, Steve Hofmeyr, is situated only 800 metres from the house. Here delicious and affordable traditional meals, and the hospitality so characteristic of the West Coast, can be enjoyed. Jacobsbaai has always been known for its abundance of crayfish and it is a popular fishing spot. The bay is also ideal for sea kayaking. The protected bays provide an ideal paddling and exploring area for youngsters and young at heart, while the sandy Atlantic Ocean beach allows uncrowded sunbathing. The brave, tipsy or hot can dip in the refreshing ocean. The towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Darling, the hometown of the famous Evita Bezuidenhout are nearby and Veldrift on the Berg River is ideal for bird watchers. Enjoy some wine tasting at the excellent wine estates in the area or visit the West Coast Fossil Park near Hopefield or the West Coast National Park, which is particularly beautiful in spring (late August to end September) with a kaleidoscope of colourful spring flowers. This attractive cottage was designed by Jaco Visser a well known West Coast architect after the traditional thatch roofed fishermen's cottages of the area and is literally a 'stone's throw' from the beach & sea - separated only by a narrow strip of indigenous 'fynbos' vegetation. The 4 metre wide glass doors of the large living area open onto a patio with a built-in braai (barbeque). From here (or from the living room) there are unsurpassed views of the beach & sea - ideal for whale & dolphin watching! In the living room is a huge traditional fireplace which is not only for warmth, but serves as an indoor cooking facility should you want to braai or make a potjie on cooler winter evenings. All three bedrooms are en-suite, the main bedroom with bath & shower, and the other two with shower only. The main and second bedrooms have queen size beds while the third bedroom has a double bed. Natural Blue

"Natural Blue"Paternoster fisherman's village architecture and was built in 2004 as a family home. It is a 3 bedroom house with a double sleeper couch in the loft. It is situated up a panhandle less than 200m from the beach. Pets and children are most welcome and the spacious bedrooms, living and entertainment areas are ideal for 'holiday' traffic. The unit provides a fully equipped kitchen, fresh linen, bath and beach towels. The main bedroom, with queen-size bed and spacious cupboards has an open plan en-suite which boasts both a spa bath and family sized shower, as well as having a wash hand basin and loo. The main bedroom also opens onto the patio/braai area. The second bedroom offers a queen size bed and spacious cupboards. The 3rd bedroom consists of queen-size bed and wardrobe with double doors opening onto the patio area which finishes off the U-shape of the front entertainment area of the house. The loft has three couches and coffee table with 74cm TV and limited bouquet DStv. One of the couches converts into a sleeper couch. Both the second and third bedrooms together with loft share a full second bathroom. The huge kitchen, with butchers block is fully equipped with microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, stove, oven, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery and is ideal to bring out your creative culinary skills. Coffee, tea, milk, and sugar are supplied to help you settle in. Friends gather around the kitchen counter on the 8 bar chairs and share West Coast experiences. The 10 seater dining room table is ideally situated between the kitchen and inside braai area to allow free-flow conversation. The inside and outside braai areas allow for all season cooking. A potjie, braai grid and tongs are provided. Come and enjoy a relaxing break away from it all. Take leisurely strolls along the long white sandy beaches, watch the sunset from The Voorstrandt Restaurant situated on the beach, support the local fishing community by ordering 'sea' fresh fish & chips or sit at the Paternoster Hotel with a sundowner and watch the locals selling their daily catch. Tietiesbaai Nature Reserve and Cape Columbine Lighthouse are a mere 5km from Paternoster and make for a scenic drive and again, perfect beaches and little paddling pools make it ideal for children.

Limestone House

Limestone House, in the quaint fisherman's village of Paternoster, is waiting to welcome you, whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two or wanting to enjoy a family holiday by the sea. Our holiday home is extremely generous with space and offers three bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, the others with a double bed each, two bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, an eight-seater table designed to host long drawn out meals, and a giant fireplace. Paternoster's most beautiful beach with secluded coves and huge boulders is less than 50 meters from our doorstep. Paternoster is also situated next to the 263ha Columbine Nature Reserve, carpeted with a bright carpet of fynbos flowers in spring (August to October). The Cape Columbine Lighthouse is a short drive away (approx 5km). A must, is the guided tour to the top of the lighthouse, one of the last manually controlled lighthouses in the country. The lighthouse is usually the first lighthouse sighted by ships coming from South America and Europe. The coastline offers an abundance of marine life, where dolphins and whales can be spotted. Paternoster is well known for good catches of the West Coast Rock Lobster, abalone and mussels. If seafood is your thing, we suggest you take a walk down to the fish market where the local fishermen offer their catch of the day. Alternatively you can join the locals for a traditional "packet" of fish and chips. Also fascinating is the West Coast Fossil Park, one of the richest fossil sites in the world. Over the past 40 years bones of 200 different kinds of animals, many of them new to science, have been recovered. Guided tours are available every day at 11:00. For the outdoor enthusiasts there is an abundance of hiking trails and the shoreline literally encourages kayaking. And for the incurable romantics there are always the unforgettable sunsets. The House and location Aunty Margie's is a nice big 4 bedroom house overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We can accommodate the bigger family or groups up to 8 people. View Paternoster's main beach and see the local fishermen go to sea in the morning and return with their catch later that day from the comfort of the lounge or stoep. We are only 100m from the beach and within walking distance from popular restaurants. The house is fully equipped. Two of the bedrooms have got en-suite. During summer holidays fishermen's main catch is crayfish and you can enjoy this delicacy fresh from the sea. During winter months Snoek is their main catch. Other fresh marine species founded on our coast is mussels, mullets and Hottentots fish. Whales are also visiting our bay from time to time. Paternoster offers a variety of restaurant, shops and our famous Paternoster Hotel for things to add on your "must do" list.


Paternoster,Vredenburg, is one of the oldest coastal towns on the West Coast of the Western Cape. Due to strict development guidelines, the village retains an authentic atmosphere with whitewashed homes against a cobalt-blue Atlantic Ocean. The endless sandy beaches invite you to go on long walks. Quite often one can spot dolphins, seals and whales. Bird life is rich and the sacred ibis can also be seen. Fresh seafood caught daily by local fisherman, can be enjoyed at a number of local restaurants. The crayfish, for which Paternoster is renowned, is a must. Paternoster is a haven of peace and tranquility which you can enjoy while staying in Thalassa. Thalassa offers the following: Thalassa is a romantic cottage for two persons, right on the beach. Bedroom It has a queen-sized bed with crisp white linen. There is a television and Full DStv (No smart card needed) in the bedroom. Lounge/kitchen There are concertina doors that open completely to give you the feeling that you are outside, although you are inside. There is an inside fireplace and a cd player/radio. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four plate stove with oven, microwave oven, refrigerator with freezer. All other utensils, crockery etc. is provided. Bathroom The bathroom is newly renovated. It has a shower, but no bath. Outside On the wooden decks you can spend time either by having a braai, or just relax on the reclining chairs. From the stoep you can observe the activities of holiday makers, fishermen, sea-birds, whales (in season), dolphins, etc. General You have a sea view from about every angle in the cottage. You only need to bring beach towels, fire-wood, food and drinks. Please no smoking in the cottage. No pets allowed. A cleaning service is available at an extra rate. Recreational Body boarding, wind-surfing and canoeing can be done right in front of the cottage. It is possible to swim, but then you should be brave enough to dare the cold water. Cape Colombine Nature Reserve and light house is about 3 km from Paternoster. Vredenburg is the closest big town (15 km) and offer all major shops. Conclusion The idea of visiting Paternoster, is not to rush all the time, but to relax and enjoy the nature, and the tranquility of this beautiful quaint fishermen's village.

La Mer

La Mer, (the sea) offers guests the opportunity to stay right on the beach in the peaceful fisherman's village of Paternoster. Experience the magical, across the bay sunsets of Paternoster. Book a deep-sea ski boat or traditional boat fishing trip. Dive training and dive trips can be arranged, as can crayfishing trips in season. Book sea kayaking trips accompanied by experienced kayaking guides. The trips are an excellent way to experience the beautiful coastline and wildlife such as seals, whales, dolphins and a variety of sea birds, including the endangered oystercatcher. Columbine Nature Reserve, a mere 5 kms away, boasts an amazing display of wild flowers from July to October. Tieties Bay is also within the Nature Reserve and has some of the finest West Coast beaches among its rugged coastline. Tour Cape Columbine, the last manned lighthouse built on the South African coast. West Coast Fossil Park is well worth a visit. One can see the fossils and read about extinct animals such as the African Bear, sabre-tooth cats, giant ostrich, a species of elephant and many more. Take an easy car trip to well-known vineyards and sample the many excellent wines on offer. View the Southern Right Whale from the beach, March to November, or take a 3-hour boat trip from Port Owen to the Berg River. About Paternoster Legend has it that ship wrecked Portuguese sailors who, on landing safely on the beach, offered up the prayer "Patre Nostre". Hence the name of our village "Paternoster" meaning "Our Father". Paternoster is situated about 150 km North of Cape Town on the R27 and 15 km from Vredenburg. The picturesque village is set in a beautiful bay with the architecture strongly influenced by the white cottage fishermen style. The local fishermen still enjoy their trade, launching their fleet of small craft from the beaches as the license regulations allow. A happy few hours can be spent greeting the boats as they land on the beach laden with fish of the season. For some, the best time is spent with the fishermen bartering for fish or crayfish

De Oude Muragie

Experience tranquillity at the West Coast Hear, see and smell the sea from our holiday home (De Oude Muragie) which was first built in 1875 and was restored in 2007. The local residents called it "The little Jewel of Paternoster". The house is one of a handful of original fisherman's cottages saved by the Heritage Council. The dune contains significant archaeological heritage remains of human occupation dating back 3000 to 2000 years. An excavation site, made by the Dept of Archaeology is on the property, showing a shell midden which was formed by the Kohekohes, who used to camp and eat shellfish and white mussels on the dune. De Oude Muragie offers the following: A home away from home, with atmosphere and luxury!!! Wheelchair friendly!! Baleine Vue
